'Mr. Robot' TV Series Season 2 Cast: Vigilante hacker Elliot Alderson, Rami Malek's character, will take off his black hoodie for Mr. Robot season 2 but he will also trade up as far as technology. He will have to after it was revealed in the, spoiler alert, finale that Elliot was being played by White Rose from the beginning.
"Mr. Robot" Season 2 will probably return to USA Network either late June or July 2016 and is expected to keep its time slot. The post-credits scene showed that the White Rose, played by BD Wong, was playing both sides.
Sam Esmail, the series creator, originally conceived Mr. Robot as a feature film. Esmail explained that the duplicity was part of the plot from the start. Mr. Robot turned out to be Elliot's dead father. Now that he told Elliot to hide the fact that he is his father from Evil Corporation, there is speculation that Mr. Robot is alive in some virtual reality.
When "Mr. Robot" season 2 begins, Mr. Robot will get to play multiple aspects of his multiple personalities.
"He has a dissociative identity disorder," creator Sam Esmail told Deadline.com.
"There are archetypes. People who suffer from this disorder sometimes have a mother figure at play or a father figure."
"There are greater things going on," Esmail continued.
"It's just about how I reconcile the two." Mr. Robot would have gone out with a bang just by ending with the big father reveal, but Esmail says, "I didn't want to put too much weight on that. I felt that the ending shouldn't be that shocking, rather more conclusive. No big wow and without the characters seeing their repercussions of what was going on."
Esmail said the 'Mr. Robot' season finale will bring on new challenges for the hacker. He is trying to damage "Evil Corp" but is going up against the two villains played by Michael Cristofer and BD Wong.
Esmail says he can see USA Network's TV series "Mr. Robot" running five years. He also spoke about the upcoming season 2.
"I think the first season, there's a lot of character development. To me, none of the thrilling elements work if you don't have a character that's fleshed out, that feels real, that you can relate to or empathize with or understand," Esmail told ET.
"So we're always doing both. But at the end of the day, what a good story is, for me, is really about a person and how they're growing and how they're evolving. The emotional journey is 100 percent the heartbeat of the show. And that's something that we'll never lose."
Fans are loving the repercussions, even as they shed light on the reality of hacking.
"It speaks to this generation and what is happening currently - especially with technology and our relationship to technology and hacking," Portia Doubleday recently told Entertainment Weekly.
"I think that in the next five years, we are going to see how much hacking really is going to affect society and our relationships. It is really relatable and the characters are really relatable as well."
"Mr. Robot" tells the story of computer hacker Elliot (Rami Malek), who gets involved with ag group of hackers led by Mr. Robot (Christian Slater) who want to bring down tech company E Corp. Mr. Robot, co-stars Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallström. It was created by Sam Esmail who executive produces with Steve Golin and Chad Hamilton.
