YG Entertainment has been extra busy lately with promotions and debuts for several of their old and new acts - Big Bang, WINNER, CL, and iKON. But what about the company's new girl group?
During a press conference on Oct. 3 after iKON's debut concert, YG Entertainment's founder and chief producer Yang Hyun Suk addressed questions about the upcoming female act.
According to Yang, preparations for the still unnamed girl group are still unerway, and the compay is aiming for a possible debut date in the next year.
Good news for fans of YG who have been waiting for three years to hear updates about the new act. The entertainment agency announced plans to debut a new female act back in 2012 with previously released reports suggesting that the girl group will debut before September of this year.
In April, YG Entertainment confirmed that the female group will have five or less members, including trainee Kim Jisoo.
"We’re putting a lot of a effort into this new girl group," said Yang Hyun Suk at the time, as reported by Soompi.
While fans wait patiently for more information about the new group, YG Entertainment has plenty of other artists and promotions to keep everyone entertained.
The company's newest male group, iKON, recently made their debut and kicked off promotions with a concert on Oct. 3. iKON's full debut album Welcome Back will drop on Nov. 1 following their first music video "My Type" that was released on Sept. 15. and two other songs and music videos, "Rhythm Ta" and "Airplane" on Oct. 1.
Additionally, the company's best known act, Big Bang, released eight chart-topping singles in recent months and are currently performing for fans all around the world with their MADE World Tour.
2NE1's CL is also preparing to make her U.S. debut with the EP "Lifted" this fall.
